Advantages of Fine Arts Floaters It is a “valued policy.” The value is determined when the item is insured, not at the time of loss. In a total loss, the insurer pays the limit shown on the policy.
It covers nearly any direct physical loss with very few exclusions, and usually without a deductible.
The premium is reasonable--typically $3-8 per $1000 of value. So, coverage for a work of art valued at $10,000 would cost between $30-80 annually.
Protection against breakage of fragile items can also be purchased.
